IOM Annual Club Champs Scratch racing #5 results

Hi Skippers,
The weather gods were smiling on us this afternoon with clear sky’s, sunshine and light 5-8 knot South to SE breeze. The 8 skippers sailing enjoyed very close racing and very few penalty incidents.
Most skippers including myself, had difficulty judging the top mark and hit the bouy. Other than that it was a very clean afternoon of sailing.
Congrats to the place getters:
1st Simon Kellett #58 11 points
2nd Derick Warne #97 15 points
3rd Geoff Morris #96 26 points

After a few tries to get the motor on the dinghy going it finally ran which meant that I could lay a good course for the afternoon. ( stuck needle in carby)
Thanks to all for helping pack up the dinghy and for Derick taking the trailer to Tony’s house.
A real team effort.
A great afternoon of sailing in good breeze. Well done to all.!!
See you all on Tuesday for the 1st of our Winter H’cap series.
Happy sailing,
Simon K

Our visitor Lex results are not shown in the above – he had 46 points after two drops.

Check out the Series Cumulative after 4 rounds :

Interesting to see there is only one point between the top 4 – good close racing.

Highlight of the Day : Well todays stand out was Mark Burdon #275 who after a 5-6 week long European holiday came back fighting fit & won 5 races to take out the morning.

Thanks to Tony for mark laying & trailer duties & for sorting out the outboard that played up again resulting in the marks being moved by a ‘skilled" oarsman & his trusty assistant( Mark Burdon )

Tuesday 9th June : DF65 Scratch morning, hopefully the rain forecast for tomorrow & Monday will have cleared !

The new Blue DF65 hull I mentioned on Tuesdays report has sold saving the new owner $40 on postage – don’t despair I have another if anyone is interest. First come first served.

Tuesday IOM Annual H’cap #5 sailing results

Hi Skippers,

We had a shifty NW breeze which ranged from 3 knots to 12 knots all afternoon and plenty of chop in the water. All 12 skippers, including Ben Harvey from Brisbane sailing his bright orange TS2, enjoyed round 5 of our annual H’cap series.

It was good to see Geoff Morris back at the lake after some time away and starting off scratch meant that he was going to be hard to beat.

Tug boat Phil and Adrian Hardman were having a good tussle along with David C-Dobing. There were plenty of wind shifts and as each gust rolled across the lake. Picking the correct tack was key.

Congrats to the place getters:

1st Geoff Morris #96 25points

2nd Adrian Hardman #73 28 points

3rd Garry McMahon #57 30 points

Interesting that 4th, 5th and 6th place were all tired on points. Super close sailing !!!

Thanks to all who helped with the buoybots pack-up and to Tony Silver for scoring the day and providing plenty of laughs and social ribbing. Our sailing guest had a fun day.

See you all on Saturday for IOM Club Champs scratch racing.

Happy sailing,

Simon Kellett

DF65 CLUB HANDICAP CHAMPIONSHIPS – Tuesday 2nd June

Hi Skippers
Unusual to have a decent NW breeze but was a welcome change. 9 boats on the water – 10 races squeezed in our time slot.
Started A+ rig weather but shifted more northerly & increased later in the morning requiring a change to A or B for most but not all. Interesting chop making tacking tricky but that’s all part of the fun…. apparently !

Highlight of the Day – goes to the top 5 with only 1.2 points between them – Craig #370 on 23.8 having missed two races ( redress with average points ) collecting a weed affected Buoybot, then Tony "I can’t talk for 2 days" Silver #485 & Kim #42 both on 24. Then Brem #496 on 25. Great sailing guys.
Thanks to Richard for scoring & Craig for Buoybot retrieval – much appreciated.

Saturday 6th June : DF65 Club Scratch Championships … check out this link to see how you are performing : https://www.sailscores.com/SCRSC/2026/2026-df65-club-scratch-championship

Thanks to all attendees this morning for adhering to our new parking area – this will continue for a month to give the point time to regenerate. Watch out for our Commodores letter on the subject.

New Joysway freight rate : Joysway in Sydney have increased their freight rate for hull purchases from $19.95 to $39.99 . I have a brand new mid blue DF65 hull available if anyone wants one for a mere $125…. first come first served.
