Hi Skippers,
We had a chilly afternoon with 10 -18 knot SW to SE winds. At least the sun was out. Chairs were getting blown over during the gusts. The 10 skippers were joined by Andrew Wilson ( Buoybot creator ) from Brisbane. It was nice to have Andrew sailing with us with his VISS IOM. He won the day but his results have been removed from the Club results.
Doug Turner # 82 managed to combine the 1st and 2nd half of the day and won the day with 18 points. Great sailing !! Geoff Morris was showing off his Cockatoo IOM and won 3 races with great judgement and speed. This got him into 2nd place.
I think all skippers had moments of brilliance and moments of diaster.

3rd Simon Kellett #141 31 points ( on countback)

We ended up with a Buoybot #8 thanks to Andrew which was used at the top mark as an offset.
Thanks for the team effort on packing up the buoybots and trailer.

Hi Skippers
Only 8 boats on the water including Andrew Young, a visitor from Gladstone who sailed the Clubs DF65. A variety of rigs were used initially including one A+ but most changed to B rigs after a couple of races as being the most suitable choice.
A fickle SSW / S wind kept skippers busy in a competitive field – interesting to see 5 different race winners & only 3 points separating 2nd to 5th place.

Visitor Andrew Young’s results are not shown – he ended up with 37 points which would place him 6th.

Highlight of the day : goes to Richard Brady with his new pink #43 for 5 race wins & overall winner for the morning on 18 points.

This goes back to the 1960’s & is up to date with the $27,000,000 bridge recently constructed by Venue 114.
Thought it might be of interest to those of us that enjoy the area.

Hi Skippers,
We had 12 sailors this afternoon including Garth Halton #40 with his new ” Rogue ” IOM. The breeze was a little shifty with gusts coming from the West / SW and the lulls were from the South to SE. Getting it right was the key. 5 to 15 knots shifting winds.
Garth showed off the speed of his new yacht and won 6 of the 10 heats conducted. Sailing out of trouble was very important as one mistake proved to be very costly. Garth’s results have been removed from sailscores results.
Derick Warne #97 and John Halloran #83 showed great consistency all afternoon with many podium finishes. Well sailed !!

Thanks for the team effort in packing up the buoybots. Our new keel pull ties work well as the keel on Bot #5 fell off the metal bracket but we managed to get it to shore and the keel was still there.

13 boats on the water for Round 6 of our DF65 Club Scratch Championships. A beautiful sunny day with a slight chill – winds SW to SSW 5 to 8 knots with a few holes to make it interesting !

Highlight of the day : Again Kim Mitchell #42 showed that consistency is the key – 1 x race win & 4 x 2nds & 2 x 3rd places giving him 19 points & overall honours for the morning. Closely followed by Mark Burdon #275 on 23 points & Niko Leluan #95 on 25 points taking 3rd.
Thanks to Geoff Morris for RO’ing & scoring – strictly keeping an eye on incidents to ensure penalties are done.
Thanks to Tony for trailer duties & helping to set up at 7am this morning.
