NOTICE OF RACE

LASER CLASS RULES / MEASUREMENTS

As Sunshine Coast Radio Sailing Club ( SCRSC ) have been appointed to run the South Queensland National Laser Championship on 29th April 2023. I believe it is an opportunity to bring to the attention of RC Laser skippers some of the class rules / measurements that they may not have been aware of.

MASTS

Masts are to be the minimum overall measurement between heel and tip:

A Rig Mast          1780mm

B,C,D Rig Mast   1425mm

A cap, ( tyre dust cap ) may be glued to the tip of mast to stop mast piercing sail Some wear ( over time ) of mast rotating in mast step may be experienced, plugs are allowed to bring mast back to minimum measurement if wear is excessive.

BATTERIES

6 Volt NiCad or Nimh rechargeable batteries or AA Alkaline batteries are permissible but Lipo batteries are  NOT  permissible .

SAIL & SAIL NUMBERS

The Laser Class rules state the specific size, colour and font for Sail Number ( as similar as possible) and must be positioned as per specification in the addendum attached to the Laser rules.

Please note: Colour, size and correct placement of sail numbers is important, the class is NOT enforcing a ” font type ” on the world.

If two boats in the regatta have the same sail number ( last two digits ) another number may have to be temporarily added

Sails can’t be modified, but may be repaired in the event of damage. All sails must be manufactured by ” Out There Technologies LLC “

Only A,B,C, and D rig sails are permissible.

HULLS / KEELS & RUDDERS

Hulls and keels may have identifying colours ( but not painted or improved under the waterline) light sanding to remove damaged hull, keel, rudder is permissible but polishing is NOT permissible.

SCRSC has printed this advice page for ALL entrants knowledge, we ” may ” run spot checks throughout the day. This information above is made available to keep the class ” One Design ” as it was originally designed to be.
